2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnamese American community. On Refuge: 50 Years of Recomposition is a landmark art exhibition exploring themes of memory, identity, and cultural inheritance through photographs, textiles, media, and cityscapes.
The works intentionally blur familial structures, traditions, and cultural objects—manipulating and investigating memory to spark dialogue on language, belonging, and history.
Through homages to family, community, and place, the exhibition reflects on cultural ownership, the entanglement of history, and what fifty years of Vietnamese American life in the U.S. means today.
